Natural Lust has finally arrived. Book 1 of the Smoky Mountain Escapes series is now live on:
Barnes & Noble
Kallie Masters has spent the past seven years becoming a renowned reviewer. In that time, she has forgone any romantic entanglements for the sake of her job. Good or bad opinions, she is highly respected by her readers and peers. However, when an arrogant author sends death threats in response to Kallie’s scathing review of his latest novel, her boss sends her on a weekend getaway to keep everyone, especially Kallie, safe.
Kallie’s mountaintop respite is shattered when she runs into Hank Fogle with his drop-dead gorgeous eyes and frat-boy attitude. Denying the unmistakable chemistry between them, Kallie steels herself against the attraction, determined to remain aloof and free of the mess this man would surely bring into her life.
Can the magic of the Smokies allow her to let things flow naturally between them or will she fall into a lustful trap that will only break her heart in the end?
"Well, Kallie, I’d still like to make it up to you. Would you care to join me on the next leg of my hike? After that we could go find some dinner. I mean, if you aren’t busy or something."
"Why not? It’d actually be nice to have someone to talk to while I’m here. But are you sure? You don’t have to spend time with me out of pity. Don’t you have a wife or a girlfriend, boyfriend or something?" Her heart raced as she prayed Hank’s answer would be no.
"Should I? Does everyone need to be attached to another at the hip? " His tone was a bit sarcastic, almost as if he hated the thought of having a special someone. Kallie wondered who had hurt this gorgeous man so terribly.
"Well, I just can’t believe you’d be single." Kallie noticed his attempt to throw her off track and continued, "I mean, with your ability to rid the world of evil electronic devices, I figured some woman would’ve snatched you up by now." That and the man was sinfully hot! The closer he stood to her, Kallie could feel his body heat. It mixed with a scent she could only describe as his and it sent her libido into over drive. After the previous night’s dreams, she was all too eager to see if he could live up to her fantasies.
"Touché`. And no, there is no wife, girlfriend, fuck buddy or blow up doll. I’m single. As single as it gets." His laugh was intoxicating and Kallie’s panties grew wetter by the second. With the mere mention of a fuck buddy, she visualized him as her own and need shot through her body, melting the icy chip she'd had on her shoulder.
"Good." She'd answered too quickly and at the amused look on Hank's face, "I mean, that’s nice. Not nice as in nice that you don’t have anyone, but…"
"It’s okay. I know what you meant." His eyes seemed to darken with lust and Kallie stood across from him, just out of reach.
"Oh. Good," Kallie’s heart pounded, if only he would come closer. "I wouldn’t want anyone mad at you for talking to me."
"Is that what we’re doing? Talking?"
He closed the gap between them, pressing his body against hers, bracing most of his weight with one large hand on the rock wall above Kallie’s head, while his other hand gently touched her cheek. Smooth and strong, his fingers slid around to the base of her neck, sending sparks through every inch of her. Just then, a loud 'crack' in the distance rumbled across the canyon and in that moment, Kallie believed scientists all over the world were wrong. Lightning wasn't created by Mother Nature. It happened when two people, two soul mates found each other, their touch setting off an electrical phenomenon so massive that it had to travel somewhere other than back to the bodies that created it. Were the energy to be contained between them, they would burn up from the inside out. Streaking into the atmosphere and across the sky for all to see, lightning made room for more energy to be released as the universe waited for more soul mates to come together.
He must've misunderstood her silence and said, "It's just heat lightning, don't worry."
"Right. Heat lightning." She knew better. Here, in the Smokies, magic happened. She felt it flow through her and no one would ever convince her otherwise.
