An excerpt from The Eloquent Cassandra Carr:

Brendan’s mouth dropped open. “Want…me?”
“Why is that so hard to believe?” I am so screwed, and not in a good way. A headache began to take hold and he moved his hand to massage harder.
“Look at you,” Brendan waved a hand in Scott’s general direction. “You’re gorgeous, you’re successful, you’re sophisticated. I’m just some confused shmuck who’s never even kissed a guy.”
“Never?” I should not care about this. I need to stop. No good can come of this.
Brendan’s face bloomed red. “No. I’m not the type to walk into some gay bar and pick up a guy. Just the thought of it kinda makes me want to puke.”
“Not everyone is interested in that lifestyle.”
“Are you?” Brendan shook his head. “I’m sorry. I don’t have the right to ask you that. I know I’m making an ass of myself right now, I just don’t know what to do.”
“About what?” Scott dug himself deeper with every word, but he couldn’t stop.
Brendan clenched his fists on the desk, tapping his knuckles. Meanwhile, his right leg bounced and the poor kid looked as if he would self-combust from the red suffusing his face.
After a moment of charged silence, Brendan said, “So, you want me, but can’t have me.”
“Well, you’re the first guy I’ve ever wanted. I’ve known about my sexuality for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve met somebody who actually interested me beyond a casual attraction. And this sucks. I’m distracted; I can’t do my schoolwork; I’m making mistakes on the ice. I can’t have this.”
Scott leaned against the window and asked, “Then what do you want to do?”
Brendan licked his lips and Scott’s treacherous gaze followed the movement. “This.” Before Scott could even react, Brendan had grabbed him and kissed him, sloppily pushing his tongue into Scott’s mouth even as Scott tried to force his muddled brain to catch up with the program. He moaned as Brendan’s strong arms came around his waist, pulling their groins together. For a guy with no experience, the man revved Scott up pretty fucking fast. His dick pushed against Brendan’s sizable erection. Brendan moaned and the back of Scott’s head bounced off the glass behind him as Brendan attacked his mouth with even more vigor.
The pain radiating through his skull brought Scott out of his trance. He shoved Brendan away—shit, the guy had some strength for a man his size—and retreated to the corner of the office. Brendan stood between him and the door or he would’ve bolted that way.
“We can’t do this,” he managed to gasp out. His body had a very different opinion, but Scott ignored his baser needs. Someone had to take charge and stop this madness.
“You said you wanted me.”
Scott blew out a loud breath through his nose. “That doesn’t mean we should do anything about it. In fact, it would be a lot safer for both of us if we didn’t.”
“Because you’re a professor?”
“Well yes, that. And I’m, what, fifteen years older than you?”
“You’re saying I’m just some dumb kid who doesn’t know any better?” Brendan began to turn away, but then spun back. “You responded to me. That might’ve been my first kiss, but I know what happened. You liked it.”
Putting up a hand in a placating gesture, Scott said, “I’m not denying anything, but enjoying a kiss and letting it go on are two different things.”
“I get it.” Scott tried to go on, but Brendan stopped him. “No, I do. I get it. I’m sorry.” Before Scott could stop him, he’d grabbed his bag off the chair he’d dumped it onto earlier, yanked open the door, and slipped through it. As he slammed the door behind him, Scott slumped to the floor.
“That went well, you jackass,” he muttered.

An excerpt from Switching Leads…by Mia Downing:

John nodded slowly. “I never realized how you felt about me or my riding. I never believed…” He took a deep breath. “You told me you loved me, and then I found you in bed with Dean, and then the job…” He shrugged and looked away. “I never believed how you felt about me then. And I’ve been pissed for ten years.”
Finn swallowed, his heart hammering. “Now do you believe I felt that way?” He wasn’t going to ask if John believed he loved him still. Baby steps.
John’s gaze flickered from Finn’s eyes to mouth and back up again in a slow perusal that seared Finn’s skin. “Yeah,” he said hoarsely and leaned across the stool between them. His lips brushed Finn’s surprised ones in a gentle kiss.
He’d dreamed about this for so long—John’s acceptance of his apology—but never had it ended like this, with those firm lips sliding across his as if coaxing belief from the inside.
John withdrew and slid from his stool. He spun Finn’s seat a little and eased between Finn’s thighs, the beginning of an erection pressing against Finn’s zipper. Finn’s cock throbbed at the contact, his belly contracting with anticipation.
“I’m sorry,” John whispered, his pupils dilated, eyes hooded as he stared down into Finn’s eyes. His chest rose and fell rapidly against Finn’s.
“For what?”
“For being unprofessional. I’ve never kissed a co-worker before.” John bent and brushed Finn’s mouth in another kiss, this one a little longer with a touch of heat. Finn didn’t dare open his mouth and beg for tongue. In the past, Finn had ruled their sex life, had directed the kisses. The fact that John had switched leads on him was as heady as a bottle of good Bourbon.
“I promise I won’t tell,” Finn murmured when John lifted his lips.
John cupped the back of Finn’s head with his palm. “Good.”

An excerpt from Winning Annabeth Albert:

“Hold up. If I filled out a bracket and mine beat yours, you’d do whatever I wanted? Like anything?”
“Sure.” Ollie shrugged, an insolent lift of surprisingly wide shoulders inside a too-big shirt. “I mean not all day. But sure, you want me to be a slave for an hour or something, I can take it.”
Ka-pow. The firecracker exploded, hot want raining down on Edwin, sparking against his skin. Anything. Ollie-as-slave images began to run on repeat in his brain, Ollie getting considerably less clothing with each pass. Edwin could ask for anything, and it would just be a joke to Ollie—a lark to be laughed over later, no more of a big deal than opening up with a can of silly string or shorting his sheets every night for a week.
Oh my god. Would it work? Could he use something like this—a stupid bet on stupid basketball—to exorcise the Ollie demons that had plagued him for years, all without having to admit how he felt about Ollie? Because while Ollie had been busy with the jock-crush-of-the-month plan, Edwin had been hung up on Ollie. For three and a half years. If a stupid bet could shake Edwin free, then it was worth having to learn something about basketball.
“Okay,” he whispered.
“Yay!” Ollie clambered off the bed, springs squeaking as he hit the floor. “You’ll see. This is going to be a great couple of weeks! So what are we going to play for this week? If my bracket does better by Sunday night, you send an email supporting the next watch party and you show up. And if you win…”
“I want a kiss.” The words escaped Edwin before he could call them back, before he could temper them with logic or suppress them with reality.

Thank you so much to everyone who's supported us! We hope you enjoy the bundle!

For those of you who may not know Eve, here's her bio:

Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance J.  I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor and am known for making readers giggle with my stories.

Do you love shapeshifters? I do, especially strong alpha males, the kind who take charge and aren’t afraid to get furry and kick ass for the one they want.

I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure.

Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.

And here's a little bit of fun she had when she was given a questionnaire:

Top 10 Fictional Book Characters of All Time
1.     Lucifer – my version of course. Awful of me to include one of my own characters I’m sure, but I absolutely love his sense of humor—and evil nature lol.
2.     Harry Dresden – He was the first modern day wizard I think I ever read about. I love him and his ghostly friend, Bob. (Written by Jim Butcher)
3.     Edward Cullen – Yeah I am totally team Edward! I read the books and while Bella got on all my nerves, I really liked Edward more so in the book than the movie though. (Stephanie Meyer)
4.     Curan – If you’ve never met this hunk-a-hunk of burning cat shifter, then you’ve missed out. Run, don’t walk to buy Ilona Andrews, Kate Daniels series.
5.     Drago. If you love domineering alpha dragons, then you need Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison.
6.     Rachel Morgan kicks demon ass! The Hollows by Kim Harrison is urban fantasy at its finest. Original and constantly evolving.
7.     Anita Blake, in the early days as written by Laurell K. Hamilton. The first seven or eight books in the series had her rocking as a heroine.
8.     Vlad as written by Jeaniene Frost. He is so unrepentantly arrogant and alpha that I just adore him.
9.     Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. He had the most complex, heart breaking story. But at the same time has proven to be the most fascinating character throughout her Dark Hunter series (which I am woefully behind on lol).
10.                         Name your favorite!
Top 10 Vampires in Books
Hottest Vamps on TV & in the Movies
1.     Vampire Diaries - Damon. Damon. Damon. It’s the eyes dammit!
2.     True Blood - Eric. Tall, blonde Viking who’s also evil and bloodthirsty? Love it.
3.     The Original – Klaus. He is so wicked. So unrepentant. So awesome.
4.     The Originals – Elijah. He seems so goody two shoes and then he does something evil. Lol.
5.     The Originals – Marcel. He’s bad, but such a charming flirt.
6.     Buffy – Spike. Anyone remember that blond haired original bad boy?
7.     Twilight – Carlisle . For an old guy he’s pretty damned hot.
8.     Vampire Diaries – Stefan. The new Stefan, who’s got a bad ass thing going on.
9.     Selene – Underworld. She makes the list because I so totally want to be her!
10.                         Who’s your hottest vamp?

Sexiest Shifters on Television and in the Movies
1.     Alcide from True Blood. I swear I drool when he takes off that shirt.
2.     Mystique – X-Men movies. Yes, she’s a girl, but damn, for a blue mutant, she has a body I’d kill for!
3.     Derek from Teen Wolf. Need I say more?
4.     Clayton on Bitten. He needs to move on and date someone new. Any volunteers?
5.     Klaus from the Originals – now he’s technically a hybrid, but hey, he’s got shifter blood. He growls therefore he makes the list lol
6.     Jacob from Twilight, too young for me, but daughter swears he’s the hottest thing to ever walk this earth J
7.     Lucien from Underworld. I like them a little evil…
8.     Navarre in the old classic Lady Hawk. She’s a hawk by day, he a wolf by night. A lovely romance with action.
9.     Michael from Underworld. Savage beast with a softness for a certain vampire. Yum!
10.                         Name yours!

Top Ten Favorite Movies
·        Star Wars Trilogy! I am a total fan of the original 3 lol
·        Indian Jones. Loved the hat and the whip J
·        Space Balls. I don’t know what that says about me that it makes the list, but I still giggle at the corny jokes.
·        Star Trek (2009) OMG I loved this movie about the young Kirk and the rest of the gang. I wasn’t as keen on the second, but I’m hoping they will make a third, one that’s exploring space…the final frontier.
·        Chronicles of Riddick. Sci-fi story, action, wicked special effects and Vin Diesel, make this movie awesome.
·        Poltergeist. Scary movies with kids freak me out, and this one more than others always stuck with me.
·        Ghostbusters. I hear the music and I’m singing at the top of my lungs. And who could ever forget the giant marshmallow man.
·        Airplane. Yeah, I’m a sucker for silly humor. But I prefer the older comedy version to the newer ones which are more into shock than clever I find.
·        Mr & Mrs Smith. Damn I love that movie. A love story that is so messed up and action packed. The chemistry between them sizzled and hit all my happy spots.
·        War of the Roses. Such an awful movie, yet so damned funny!

If I was A Shifter What Animal Would I Be?
My first choice would be a large cat. There is something about a graceful feline, one who can stealthily creep up and pounce scaring the hell out of their target. I also think the whole purring thing is cool.
My second choice would be a bear. I mean, who would want to be cute and cuddly, while at the same time ferocious.
And my third choice? A giant falcon or eagle. The ability to fly is totally awesome

If I Could Have One Magic Power It Would Be…
The ability to move objects with my mind. Oh no, is the TV remote across the room and I’m too couch potatoed to fetch it? With just a thought it comes zooming into my hand. Did the kids once again wait until I sat down to ask me for ketchup? With a zing of my mind, I fetch it from the fridge. And housework? I can totally handle sitting back and relaxing with a book as the mop swirls around the floor.
My second choice would probably be flying. Imagine the liberty of coasting above the neighborhood, peeking on my neighbors, avoiding traffic jams, saving on ridiculous gas costs. Ooh and dropping water bombs on the jerk who keeps speeding  down our street with no regard for kids!
And finally, my third magic power would be…energy. Because I would love to be able to keep up with my kids! Lol
What would your choice be?

Top ten paranormal TV shows
A question I get asked a lot is what do I do in my down time. Well, when I’m not Candy Crushing (curse you level 213!), or reading, I’m a TV addict. I’ve got my PVR (which is Canadian for DVR lol), set to record a ridiculous amount of shows. I’m quite pleased at the supernatural lineup available within the past year. Vampires, werewolves, magic and more are everywhere it seems, and I’m going to share my top ten favorite so we can see what we have in common.
  • Game of Thrones. This is a MUST see for me. My only lament is the season is so short and there’s not enough of Daenerys Targaryen and I still miss Drogo!
  • True Blood, I’ll admit the last season wasn’t my favorite, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still an avid fan. Heck, I’d watch just for Eric and Alcide.
  • Sleepy Hollow. Holy smokes what a fabulous new show! Different. Gory. And can you say Ichabod is sexy?!
  • Being Human, I started out watching this show in the British version, then got hooked on the American one. I’m not sure where this season is going yet, but it’s got a different take on the supernatural that I like.
  • Lost Girl. While I’ll admit I was kind of miffed they brought Lauren back, the Wanderer and the Valkyrie at least make up for it J
  • Haven. Talk about a show taking a twist. It seems Haven isn’t done with its troubles.
  • Teen Wolf – how did I miss the first two seasons of this show?! Totally sucked into it now and will probably have to get my hands on the ones I missed.
  • American Horry Story Coven. Oh. My God. Seriously. Don’t watch this if you’re squeamish. It is disturbing yet riveting. (as is Asylum, the second season. I’ve just recently seen the first season with the haunted house, and yeah, it just reinforces my desire to never buy anything too old lol)
  • Bitten. Damn did I enjoy the first season. Can’t wait for the fall.
  • Vampire Diaries and the Originals because seriously, Damon, vampires, and well, more vampires. What’s not to love?
  • Once Upon A Time – Lost last place because really, the whole Peter Pan thing didn’t do much for me. Hoping it gets better again.
  • My newest favorite is now Supernatural. How did I miss so many seasons of this awesome show?! Thank you Netflix, lol

Suggestions for others if needed:
  • Top Ten Sci Fi TV or Movies
  • Imagine this shifter hybrid (ie cross a lion and an eagle a for a griffon etc)
  • Name the villain I’m going to kill off in my next book
  • Name Miranda (bunny’s baby) – I don’t think I have yet, I’ll have to check :D

Don't forget to hop on over and leave your response for Eve's contest. There's still time to help her choose a title and a cover: Eve's Contest Link

#NewRelease Now Available!

Natural Lust has finally arrived. Book 1 of the Smoky Mountain Escapes series is now live on:

Barnes & Noble

Kallie Masters has spent the past seven years becoming a renowned reviewer. In that time, she has forgone any romantic entanglements for the sake of her job. Good or bad opinions, she is highly respected by her readers and peers. However, when an arrogant author sends death threats in response to Kallie’s scathing review of his latest novel, her boss sends her on a weekend getaway to keep everyone, especially Kallie, safe.

Kallie’s mountaintop respite is shattered when she runs into Hank Fogle with his drop-dead gorgeous eyes and frat-boy attitude. Denying the unmistakable chemistry between them, Kallie steels herself against the attraction, determined to remain aloof and free of the mess this man would surely bring into her life.

Can the magic of the Smokies allow her to let things flow naturally between them or will she fall into a lustful trap that will only break her heart in the end?

"Well, Kallie, I’d still like to make it up to you. Would you care to join me on the next leg of my hike? After that we could go find some dinner. I mean, if you aren’t busy or something."

"Why not? It’d actually be nice to have someone to talk to while I’m here. But are you sure? You don’t have to spend time with me out of pity. Don’t you have a wife or a girlfriend, boyfriend or something?" Her heart raced as she prayed Hank’s answer would be no.

"Should I? Does everyone need to be attached to another at the hip? " His tone was a bit sarcastic, almost as if he hated the thought of having a special someone. Kallie wondered who had hurt this gorgeous man so terribly.

"Well, I just can’t believe you’d be single." Kallie noticed his attempt to throw her off track and continued, "I mean, with your ability to rid the world of evil electronic devices, I figured some woman would’ve snatched you up by now." That and the man was sinfully hot! The closer he stood to her, Kallie could feel his body heat. It mixed with a scent she could only describe as his and it sent her libido into over drive. After the previous night’s dreams, she was all too eager to see if he could live up to her fantasies.

"Touché`. And no, there is no wife, girlfriend, fuck buddy or blow up doll. I’m single. As single as it gets." His laugh was intoxicating and Kallie’s panties grew wetter by the second. With the mere mention of a fuck buddy, she visualized him as her own and   need shot through her body, melting the icy chip she'd had on her shoulder.

"Good." She'd answered too quickly and at the amused look on Hank's face, "I mean, that’s nice. Not nice as in nice that you don’t have anyone, but…"

"It’s okay. I know what you meant." His eyes seemed to darken with lust and Kallie stood across from him, just out of reach.

"Oh. Good," Kallie’s heart pounded, if only he would come closer. "I wouldn’t want anyone mad at you for talking to me."

"Is that what we’re doing? Talking?"

He closed the gap between them, pressing his body against hers, bracing most of his weight with one large hand on the rock wall above Kallie’s head, while his other hand gently touched her cheek. Smooth and strong, his fingers slid around to the base of her neck, sending sparks through every inch of her. Just then, a  loud 'crack' in the distance rumbled across the canyon and in that moment, Kallie believed scientists all over the world were wrong. Lightning wasn't created by Mother Nature. It happened when two people, two soul mates found each other, their touch setting off an electrical phenomenon so massive that it had to travel somewhere other than back to the bodies that created it. Were the energy to be contained between them, they would burn up from the inside out. Streaking into the atmosphere and across the sky for all to see, lightning made room for more energy to be released as the universe waited for more soul mates to come together.

He must've misunderstood her silence and said, "It's just heat lightning, don't worry."

"Right. Heat lightning." She knew better. Here, in the Smokies, magic happened. She felt it flow through her and no one would ever convince her otherwise.

The Romance Reviews

#NewRelease By Newly Published Author S.M. Shade:

Happy Sunday and welcome to my place. I'd like to introduce you to a fabulous, new published author who is currently signed with Secret Cravings Publishing. Please put your hands together for S.M. Shade.

Author bio

S. M. Shade is a homeschooling mom hopelessly addicted to Dr. Pepper, love stories, sunshine, and men with full sexy lips, though not necessarily in that order. A voracious reader since sounding out her first word, she started writing as a teenager and rediscovered her love of writing as an adult. Originally from Indianapolis, she now lives in a small Kentucky town with her teenage son.

I first met S.M. a few months ago in a place I had never heard of and I liked her immediately. We have a lot in common and she has an incredibly sweet personality that I was immediately drawn to. After checking out her work, I knew I'd be a fan for life. Her passion for life and for the written word is evident in her book, The Last Woman.

When Abby Bailey meets former model and actor, Airen Holder, in a darkened department store, romance is the last thing on her mind. A plague has decimated the population, leaving Abby to raise her son alone in a world without electricity, clean water, or medical care. Her only priority is survival.
Traumatized by the horror of the past months, Abby and Airen become a source of comfort for one another. Damaged by her past and convinced Airen is out of her league, Abby is determined to keep their relationship platonic. However, Airen is a hard man to resist, especially after he risks his life to save hers.
When a man named Joseph falls unconscious in their yard, and Abby nurses him back to health, everything changes. How does love differ in this new post apocalyptic world? Can three unlikely survivors live long enough to find their place in it?

“Will you dance with me?” Airen asks, holding out his hand.

I try not to show my surprise as I take his hand and follow him. He changes the song to one of my favorites, an acoustic version of Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran. I try to act normal and hold him the same as I did Joseph, but he smells so good; like citrus and musk. It’s intoxicating.
He holds my hand and slips his fingers between mine, sliding his other arm around my waist and pulling me close. My hand is resting on his shoulder blade, and I can feel the flex of muscles in his back as he moves. My head rests tentatively against his, and I feel the soft tickle of his hair. He keeps me so close, his hard stomach against me. I’m pressed against his chest, trying to control the urge to slide my hand down to his ass. As the last verse starts, he pulls me away from him slightly. He gazes at me, and I’m drowning in those eyes, those dark mesmerizing eyes.

“I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to do this,” he whispers, and then his lips are on mine. Everything ceases to exist. My whole world is dominated by the feeling of Airen’s lips on mine. His kiss is sweet, his lips soft as they move and shift over mine. After a few seconds, the tip of his tongue strokes my lips, and I give in. I kiss him back, and I finally get to taste him, to taste Airen. We deepen the kiss, exploring each other’s mouths as he holds my face in his hands.

I slide my hand up his neck and bury it in his soft hair, as I wrap my other arm around him and press him to me harder. Oh, can this really be happening? Shouldn’t I be waking up by now? My moan fills his mouth as his fingers trail across my breast and stomach to rest on my waist. He sucks delicately on my bottom lip as we finally break apart.

I lean my forehead against his chest and close my eyes. He really kissed me. I kissed Airen. Beautiful, sexy, way out of my reach Airen. He seems to know I need a minute and holds me close, swaying to the music until I ask, “Are you drunk?”

“You know I’m not.”

We keep dancing as the next song comes on. I’m completely speechless, and my mind is spinning. I want him so bad. I want to grab his behind, reach under his shirt, rub my hands across his bare chest, and kiss him until I can no longer breathe. I’m fighting to control my urges. I know this is wrong.

“Stop,” he admonishes.

“Over thinking this.”

I sigh. “I don’t want you to be sorry or regret anything later.”

His hand strokes the back of my head and moves down to rub my back. “I won’t regret anything. Why would I?”

I give him a resigned look. “I’m not the last woman alive. It just seems that way, Airen. There will be other survivors, beautiful women who would happily fight to the death for a chance to be with you. I don’t want to see you settle when things won’t always be this way.”

“Abby,” he hesitates.

“Be honest, Airen. Before the plague if I’d passed you on the street in New York, you never would have noticed me. I can never compete with the skinny models and beautiful actresses you’re accustomed to dating. You’re way out of my league.”

He pushes me away from him and stares at me. “Look at me, Abby.”
I raise my eyes, and bite my lip.

“I’m insulted that you think I could be that shallow, as if all I care about in a woman is her appearance. Personally, I prefer a woman with curves.”

He runs his hands down my hips. “Still, that’s beside the point. Beauty isn’t the most important thing to me, and besides you’re—”

“Don’t!” I interrupt him. “Please just don’t. It makes me uncomfortable. I have a mirror. I know how I look.”

He holds my head in his hands, and his gaze burns into me. “You don’t know how you look to me. I want you to understand I don’t see you the way you see yourself. I see the woman I love.”

I can’t fight him anymore. I never had a chance. All I can do is nod and press my face into his shoulder. “I’ve tried so hard not to love you, Airen.”
“How did that work for you?”

I can hear the smile in his voice. “It didn’t. I just did my best to hide it.”

He snorts and threads his fingers through my hair. “You did a good job. I was afraid I’d lose you to Joseph for a while. Thank goodness he’s gay.”

I shake my head in disbelief. He was jealous? His hateful attitude toward Joseph and me really was due to jealousy? Joseph knew, and he tried to tell me, but I didn’t believe him. I can hardly believe it now.

I have to hear it from him. “You were jealous?”

Looking away, he mumbles, “Not one of my better qualities, I know.”

I giggle, and he raises his eyebrows. “It’s a trait that we share.” He sits on the couch with his arm around me, and I lean against him, inhaling his scent and reveling in the closeness of his body to mine. “Are sure you want this? I mean, we can’t exactly just date when we’ve been living together for so long.”

“Hmm,” he hums, nuzzling his face in my neck. “I may have had fantasies of sharing that big closet you have in your room, but we can take things as slow as you want.”

“You have to promise me something.”

“Anything,” he whispers, kissing my earlobe.
